Aviation

Human Factors in Aviation improves the safety and efficiency of air traffic, taking into account human capabilities, limitations and behaviour. In addition to analysing and evaluating systems, we develop our own assistance systems for airports.

Our main focus is on the interactions between pilots, air traffic controllers or other flight operations personnel and the aircraft or airport systems. Safety in aviation is closely linked to human factors, as human behaviour and decisions play an important role in preventing accidents and errors. Human error is one of the most common causes of accidents and incidents in aviation.

Our range of services includes, for example, analysing the design of cockpits and operating elements that can influence safety. If the cockpit is unclear or the controls are difficult to understand, this can lead to pilots making mistakes or overlooking important information. A comprehensive human factors study can ensure that these are easy for pilots to understand and operate, reducing the likelihood of errors.

We also conduct studies, for example in flight simulators, to investigate human (mis)behaviour and decision-making processes that can occur during flight operations. In addition, we at HFC develop our own assistance systems for air traffic controllers and airport operations personnel, which can optimally support such decision-making processes by suggesting smart solutions. In this way, we help to reduce human error and make aviation safer and more efficient.
