Between abbreviations and airport maps – HFC at m-click.aero’s 10th anniversary
m-click.aero celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Haus der Luftfahrt in Berlin-Mitte. Happy anniversary!
Representatives from airports, air traffic control, and industry are working there on the same topic: the digital future of air traffic. The focus was on how to transform paper-based processes, isolated solutions, and cryptic messages into a fully digital system that truly supports operations. m-click.aero and HFC took the opportunity to showcase concrete solutions rather than just talking about digitalization.
HFC was invited to present just such an example: our joint project iNOTAM at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). We demonstrated how to turn messages like “TWY S CLSD” or “TWY B CLSD S OF RWY 25” into a clearly readable, georeferenced situational overview. Hardly comprehensible to outsiders, these messages are part of everyday life for professionals but remain challenging in stressful situations. In the live demo of the iNOTAM software, it quickly became clear how closures and restrictions can be “translated” from text to a map and how operators can use this to understand more quickly what is actually happening at the airport.
By the end of the anniversary evening, there was a lot of talk about the cloud, AI, data platforms, and digitalization. What sticks with you from an evening like that? First: Air traffic is indeed changing. This isn’t happening radically overnight, but step by step through projects like iNOTAM, which are making concrete improvements to day-to-day operations in the control room. Second: Alongside large organizations, there is still room for smaller specialists who bring ideas, pace, and innovation to the table. m-click.aero has been a recognized expert in the processing and preparation of aviation data for ten years; we at HFC ensure that the interfaces fit into users’ daily workflows. iNOTAM is our joint contribution to the digital future at the airport.
